Laura Porter hails from the midwest, but now calls Los Angeles home. She began her musical career as a professional saxophonist, later singer/songwriter. She went down the rabbit hole of early childhood music and movement education and has yet to come out!

She is a grateful mom of identical twin boys plus an enthusiastic and curious music educator /advocate. Most recently, she co-founded the non profit, Bloom Arts Foundation to make arts education more equitable across Los Angeles County public schools.

She, along with her husband and guitarist, Dave Hemann, started Bloom School of Music and Dance back in 2008 and are still joyfully serving the amazing families of northeast Los Angeles. They also created LessonMate to help music studios navigate the missed music lesson in an efficient way that is educationally sound.

Determined to help create as many musicians and movers as possible, Laura starts with the youngest by helping them organize rhythm in their bodies in order to attain rhythmic competency. If children can FEEL the rhythm, they will enjoy the rhythm. It all starts with the body. The goal is help as many as possible to be Forever Musical! One rhythm, one song, one rhyme at a time.
